We remind your body how to live without pain.

Complicated doesn’t always mean more sophisticated, or better. Sometimes it’s the simple approach that gets the best result. We work on breaking the pain cycle your body has established. Pain is a signal that things are jammed up somewhere. By breaking up the traffic jam, we break the cycle of pain and give your body an alternative route — an easier way, without pain. It doesn’t happen overnight, but over time, the body remembers that it can live without pain, and that it used to live without this pain. We wake up the body’s natural healing mechanism to get back to this state of well-being, pain-free.

We focus on how you feel, not the x-rays, MRIs and scans.

Did you know that some folks have bulging discs, but no pain? Medical imaging can be a fantastic tool, but it is not the final word. The final word we believe in is how you feel. Can you take a walk? Can you go about your daily life? Are you having more good days? That’s our marker for getting you well again.

Our specialty is gentle acupuncture.

Acupuncture has been healing bodies for centuries, by awakening and stimulating your own body’s innate healing process. It restores cells and tissues, cleans up what doesn’t belong there, and gets blood flow moving to reduce pain.

Acupuncture is relaxing and restorative.

When your body is in a state of relaxation, it is able to do repair at the deepest level. In this state, your muscles, bones, and nerves become more synchronized and calm — creating the perfect stage for health and healing. This means less inflammation, better circulation, more range of motion, a calmer mind, more energy and better mood.

The process is simple.

At your initial intake appointment, Lisa will do an assessment of your pain pattern, medical history, and other factors to devise the right treatment approach for you, based upon the goals you have discussed.

After this assessment, you receive your first acupuncture treatment, and you’ll be given a treatment plan.

You’ll return for weekly or twice-weekly acupuncture treatments to ensure close support as your body begins to establish a new pattern. We want to make sure your treatment plan is providing you with:

  • Pain relief
  • Improved mobility
  • Possible reduction in pain meds
  • More “good days” in terms of energy, mood, stamina

Once we see improvements that are maintaining over time, we will start spacing visits out further apart. This usually occurs after 8 to 12 visits, with some individual variability. We will go to visits every 10 to 14 days, then once a month, then on an as-needed basis for “tuneups.” We’re here for you if you have other healthcare issues you want to address, or feel like your back is prone to more injury during a particular time or activity. Of course, many of our patients want to continue with regular maintenance, and we’re happy to work with you in that way.
